Choir Outreach

Jeremy Summerly (the Director of Music), and a number of choral scholars who had, before coming to Oxford, attended state schools recently traveled to Shenley Brook End School in Milton Keynes to work with their school choir. This activity with state schools falls within wider work relating to Widening Access and Participation that is taking place across the University of Oxford. During the hour the group worked on sight-reading and aural skills, singing complex rounds by Haydn and learning to read plainchant. The group also had a chance to hear the choral scholars singing, and to ask them questions about life in Oxford.
We had a fantastic time in Milton Keynes and hope to see the participants soon in Oxford!
